Waiting on the World to Change

So often in the world for family law, clients are becoming increasingly frustrated with their traditional divorce cases.  Delays in getting in front of a judge, the cost of fighting it out and the energy expended in the hopes of getting a good result. They just feel like they don’t have the means to rise above and beat it. Going to court to resolve a divorce is not set up to be efficient, effective and economical. There are to many cases and sometimes the lawyers don’t have the incentive to move it along. Many times the clients have unrealistic expectations of having their day in court only to realize that it was not all that it was cracked up to be. By then its too late and the case is over and one or both spouses are left wondering why they didn’t get what they wanted. There must be a better way to resolve divorces with dignity, quicker and not as costly and there is!

Attached is a great article on the pros and cons of using the Collaborative Process to resolve divorce. It discuss how Walt Disney’s nephew Roy chose this process to end a 52 year marriage. This is a great example of explaining how the process works and why it works better in all ways than traditional divorce litigation. It’s not that the attorneys don’t care. We just know that many times the fight ain’t fair. So instead of waiting on the rest of the divorce world to change, you can choose the Collaborative way.
